Christmas is a time to pause, look back on the year gone by and prepare for a new beginning.
In the Christmas sauna, all the stress of everyday life is washed away, and the body and mind are prepared to welcome the winter solstice and the Christmas celebration.
A traditional sauna session, guided by a sauna host, offers a holistic experience in which Baltic-Finnish cultural heritage comes to life, engaging all the senses.
Come and celebrate this important turning point in the soft löyly of Sanervattaren Sauna with a Christmas sauna ceremony.
Traditional Sauna Ritual
A sauna ritual that nourishes all the senses, guided by a traditional sauna master, offers a piece of Finnish cultural tradition and gives you an experience of the healing power of sauna and steam (löyly).
You will enjoy a whisking, herbal steam, a short sauna treatment, and the incantations and songs that are part of the traditional sauna ritual. In the sauna ritual, you will get to know the sauna tradition using natural gifts, whisks (vihta) and sauna incantations such as the Löyly Greeting.
In addition to the ritual, your reservation includes an introduction to Finnish Christmas sauna tradition before entering the sauna and relaxing time in the sauna cabin or on the terrace after the sauna ritual.
The event lasts 1.5 hours (duration of the ceremony is approx 60 min. There are also cooling breaks during the sauna experience.
Includes:
A brief introduction to the Finnic sauna and Christmas traditions
A löyly greeting
Gentle warming whisking
Seasonal Christmas sauna treatment (with e.g. honey or herbal salt)
Herbal Christmas drink.
Bring a swimsuit; swimsuits are worn during open group sauna sessions. The sauna guide is not naked but dressed in a sauna gown.
Bring along:
swim suit
a towel and a bathrobe, if you wish (you may rent towel on spot €5)
a drinking bottle (e.g., mineral water, juice, etc.)
warm clothing suitable for the weather, and a hat for the journey home.
You may also want to bring: a sauna hat, and sandals or sauna slippers.
